Seagull Strange was born in the mind of Bristol songwriter/producer Dan Telling. Inspired by a few lines from a well-thumbed self-help book and clutching a handful of hair-raising pop strangeness, Seagull Strange took its fledgling steps into the world via the Download Club at the end of 2004. Persuaded to take to the sky by the positive reception the sound received, a band was quickly hewn out of other like minded individuals in February of 2005 to develop Seagull Strange into the live ‘thing’. After some fantastic live appearances around the West and a well received physical CD EP ‘Animals’ on Shifty Disco that gained thumbs up from press and radio alike, the band morphed into what it is today - a 6-member tight-knit unit of determined individuals all looking for the opportunity to take the band to the next thing. Currently about to embark on a 4 day Christmas tour culminating in Bristol for the ‘Sexy Christmas’ party and then flapping into the studio the band promises next year to be another big year for Seagull Strange, with bells on. The live sound is honed by a frantic year’s gigging including this summer’s ‘Shifty Disco says “make mediocrity history” tour’ and is now ready to be captured in flight for the upcoming debut album. As a Christmas delivery, Seagull Strange bring you the last track by Dan in his studio, ‘Jack is Back’, as a download for the club. As for the rest of the music? Come see it live at one of the tour dates or if you can’t make it or you’re the sort who doesn’t eat your Easter eggs all at once then wait patiently with eager anticipation for the album to come.

Hippy shit shufflings, janglings and, it must be admitted, some rather cool and psychedelic guitaring feature. Still, the impression is of a nicely weird outfit straining at the leash while they make (very) acceptable and accessible noises… Unpeeled
