Founded in late '90s New York City as a mere duo, The Sharp Things have since evolved into a symphonic pop monster, backing bandleader Perry Serpa's brooding melodies with the lush orchestration of strings, horns, keyboards and whatever else they can draw into their ever-expanding orbit.
The Sharps' debut CD, Here Comes The Sharp Things, was released in the UK in May 2004 on Setanta Records, an event that earned 2 of 3 stars from the London Sunday Times and led the NME to declare: "your lazy summer album has arrived."
"The Suicide Bombers" is the first single from The Sharp Things' second LP, Foxes & Hounds, to be released stateside next month on Bar/None Records. Belying its title, the tune has nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism, being concerned rather with the inevitable fall of a self-destructive Hollywood screenwriter. (No names, please.)
