The Papertiger Sound - Green
The Papertiger Sound began life as Dan Gelder's new music project in July 2006. It was created as a way to get back to the music he grew up with, namely My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, New Order and the Jesus and Mary Chain. The project stayed firmly in the bedroom until a friend suggested he put the few songs he had written onto myspace.
In September of that year Ker, a Canadian songwriter, wrote a blog on her myspace saying she was moving to Leeds in the United Kingdom and was looking for musicians to collaborate. As Dan was also living in Leeds, it seemed too good an opportunity to turn down.
New songs were recorded over the Autumn and Winter of 2006 and the beginning of 2007 saw The Papertiger Sound play live for the first time, at the Norwich Arts Centre in the United Kingdom. In March, a trip to Stockholm in Sweden saw new songs written, and a plan to continue the band once Kerstin returned home.
Kerstin returned to Canada in July 2007, leaving The Papertiger Sound existing as a transatlantic digital online band.
In this configuration a new EP ("This is how it ends...") was released towards the end of 2008 on the Egress UK label and it is from this EP that "Green" is plucked for your Shifty Disco delectation.
A new EP and Album are currently being worked on for release early 2009 and a "live" version of the Band is being put together.
