Sleepwalker
Autons launch their second album Who Do You Think You Are Kidding? on Monday 26th January 2009 and trail that with this release of Sleepwalker on the Shifty Disco Download Club.
Autons have a disengaged/engaged relationship with their society. They have a love of cult tv and horror movies, imagine Alfred Hitchcock making an electro post-punk, agit-Roxy soundtrack and you might get it.
The album is an electronic music in a variety of ways, but if you like David Bowie's best bits from the 1970s, Ziggy Stardust, Hunky Dory, Low you will have an idea as to the drama and scope of Autons new album.
In the past 12 months Autons have played at sold out London shows with the likes of Sparks, got to record with one of their heroes, Jello Biafra of Alternative Tentacles/The Dead Kennedys, headlined Bleepfest 08 (Paris, France November 2008) and they have been invited to play at SXSW in Texas, USA in March 2009.
The album will be released in the UK via Jelly Maid Music and distributed by Backs/Shellshock UK and in the USA via Zip Records and distributed by Sony Red (BMG).
Autons debut single, Snakes, was voted runner-up by Radio One listeners in last year's annual John Peel inspired Festive Fifty. The single was hailed as "genius" by Radio One, Rock Sound, Mojo and American magazines. The band's debut album, Short Term Manifesto, shortly followed. Don't ignore this band . merci.
