It's a Shifty Disco double-header on the Download Club this week as we're celebrating the imminent release of two new albums.

First up on October 15th is the new record from Sacramentan singer-songwriter, Anton Barbeau. Anton is a cult-hero's cult hero. With his esoteric and highly-personalized brand of psychedelic power-pop, his "mind-bending" stage show, and his auto-neurotic humour, he is quietly yet quickly building a global fan-base.
This new album, The Automatic Door, is layered with the Sandy Denny-like harmonies of Su Jordan and features the Soft Boys' Kimberley Rew on guitar and the backing of CAKE's classic rhythm section. All this while Barbeau continues relentlessly touring tea shops and stone circles in the UK. The album is available now on Oxfordmusic.net at the introductory price of only £7.99. Anton launches the album with these full-band shows in the coming month:
Thursday 11th October - Jericho Tavern, Oxford Wednesday
24th October - 12 Bar Club, London
Wednesday 31st October - Beehive, Swindon
Friday 16th November - Dublin Castle, London

Coupling up with Anton this week is a track from the debut Paperlung album. Balance is released on October 22nd and features 12 guitar pop nuggets from the pen of former Boo Radleys singer, Sice. In his own words... "It's unashamedly melodic. I can't write songs any other way." The album will be previewed on rotation throughout October on the Paperlung MySpace page.
