A renegade coffee shop worker, a maverick phone salesman, a wannabe copywriter, and a man who delivers dead bodies for medical research. These are the genetically modified acorns from which sprang the four pronged oak of Zwaitec.
Lurking in the hinterland somewhere between the parallel worlds of Nintendo and Rock, they eke out their survival from a diet of pre-packed pasta salads, energy drinks and chocolate, barely managing to keep their heads above water long enough to craft the three minute pop songs that bring a ray of light into their otherwise subterranean and joyless existence.
We Need Hairspray is their first release, and it's a jaunty little number which is either about the difficulties of maintaining even a modest hairstyle without the benefit of ozone depleting cosmetics, or a paean to the sadness which arises from seeing a childhood receding ever further into the distance. It all depends on your perspective.
