The recently formed four piece from Leicester began life in the basement where long time friends Chris Holloway (vocals/guitar) and Ben Allen (guitar/piano/synth) began writing and recording together. Joined by Rich Herrington (drums) and Matt Payne (bass/vocals) the band strives for epic and compelling songs. Fusing edgy guitars with pulsing electronic melodies, the live soundscape of Shortwave Fade is often hard to describe, though comparisons have been drawn to the likes of early Mansun, Doves, Mew and Soulwax.
Not taking themselves too seriously is something that Shortwave Fade could never be accused of. Their perfectionist tendencies, obsession with detail and the resulting lengthy rehearsals have often led to frayed tempers and sporadic walkouts. However, this serves only to strengthen the final sound, with a body of songs that showcase the confidence of a band who have truly found their own way.
The band have just completed three new recordings with producers Matt and Ville Leppanen of the Animal Farm. The initial self-produced single Anything to Anyone however, forms a powerful introduction to their immense sound.
