The Race (myspace.com/raceuk) bring you a little exclusive courtesy of DandelionRadio.com.

Back at the end of January you may have been aware that Shifty Disco was having a little bit of a celebration. One of the many 10th Anniversary events was a label-defining night at our favourite London venue - The Luminaire in Kilburn. Dandelion Radio recorded all the live sets from My Device, Seagull Strange, The Race and Paperlung. These will be broadcasted in full during the March schedules on Dandelion - check the site for details. Also if you haven't heard the ShiftyDisco10 special that has been on air this month then you have to be quick as the last broadcast date is 28th February.

On March 19th, The Race will be releasing their new 2-minute sonic blast of a single, "Comfort, Comfort". Lifted from their debut album "Be Your Alibi" the single campaign is backed by an excellent video clip that MTV2 has already taken to its bosom. Here for you this week is the exclusive live version of the track that opened their set at the Luminaire on 27th January 2007.

Tonight (Friday 23rd February) the band play at the Josaka 8th Birthday party at 21 South Street in their hometown of Reading. Then on Thursday 15th March they headline the Shifty Disco / Club Fandango special at the Borderline in central London. Ably supported by My Device, The Cages and The Special Relationship this is going to be one hell of a show. Snap up your £7 advance tickets.

And then to celebrate the week of the single release, The Race will be playing a FOPP store each and every day from Monday to Sunday:
Monday 19th March FOPP Tottenham Court Road 6:30pm
- a special Shifty night also featuring Seagull Strange and King Of Spain
Tuesday 20th FOPP Oxford 4:30pm
Wednesday 21st FOPP Cardiff 5pm
Thursday 22nd FOPP Brighton 4pm
Friday 23rd FOPP Southampton (Marlands) 4:30pm
Saturday 24th FOPP Bristol (Horsefair) 4pm
Sunday 25th FOPP Reading 3pm

In a moment of hot-headed excitement, Shifty Disco has decided to make the "Be Your Alibi" available for the next few weeks at the special discount price of £8.99 and we're even throwing in a free copy of the "When It Falls" EP! 14 tracks from The Race for less than nine quid. Lovely. So if you've been teetering on the fence... then now's the time to take the plunge.

Wrapping up this month of Shifty Disco bands A&R choices, The Race would like to introduce you to Polar Remote....

'Polar Remote live somewhere near Reading. We actually know very little about them. They were one of the first bands we saw play on the local scene and they blew us away. That was about 3 years ago. They keep a pretty low profile I think, but the music speaks for itself.'
Nice things people have said about Polar Remote (myspace.com/polarremoteuk)...
"One of the most efforlessly lush and beautiful indie records of the year, a quality independent release" - Drowned In Sound
"They are set to be the band of the year" - Hot New Bands
"This EP is bloody brilliant...buy it" - Joyzine
"Lush, psych-lite indie with cream on top" - Logo

Polar Remote have spent years evolving, first in a leaky barn and later in the empty warehouse they like to call home, focusing on developing a deep and gutsy sound that manages to be both sweeping and intricate, laced with both melancholy and exuberance. Expect a beautifully atmospheric sound and intense live experience from this Reading-based experimental outfit.

So what they are up to now....well at the moment they are just finishing off mixing their first album which they recorded by themselves. They are still looking for a loving home for it but hope to find a label to help us distribute it soon.
