Villareal formed in 2002 and played low-key shows in and around their home
town of Brighton, before settling on the line-up that recorded Spook
Frequency, over an 18 month period in Steventon, near Oxford.
Influences range from the country pop of Sleepy Jackson through to the lo-fi
melancholia of Sparklehorse and Grandaddy and the buzz pop guitar work of
the Posies.
The Spook Frequency album, represented by this week's download track "Just
Like an Aeroplane", distils these three elements and results in something
original and uplifting...
Other fave bands are: American Music Club, Trash Can Sinatras, Weezer, Radio
Dept. and Turncoat.
Villareal shows are in the pipeline and the band are currently working on
new material for the follow-up, 'Blue Snakes'.
