Science formed as a 5- piece at the end of 2002, although the core nucleus came about when singer/ guitarist Rebecca Jade and guitarist Dewi Rhys moved from their sleepy hometown, Penmaenmawr, in North Wales to the big smoke of London in 1998. They are now joined by keyboard player Matt Jones (from Kent/ London) drummer Tookie (from Tyneside/ Yorkshire), and most recently bassist Stu Maxwell (also from North Wales). Taking in a myriad of different sounds, Science verge to and from every sonic extreme. They have been mentioned in the same breath as artists as diverse as Patti Smith, Television, Van Der Graaf Generator, PJ Harvey, Galaxie 500 and Belly, although in truth they sound like all of these and none of them at the same time.
Science have played gigs with Simple Kid, Hope Of The States, Ingo Star Cruiser, C33X and Medium 21.
In 2003 Science received airplay on XFM, GTFM, and BBC Radio Wales and were featured on Radio One’s Session In Wales for a second time.
You Passed Thru has been described as "fantastic" by XFM's Claire Sturgess and as "spine tingling excellence" by ireallylovemusic.co.uk
Look out for their next release on Ff Vinyl. Science are to be featured on the compilation"The North South Divine", scheduled for release in June.
Science play London's Infinity Club on Thursday 29th April, on stage 8.30pm.
