THERE'S FOUR OF THEM AND THEY'RE CALLED THE FOUR STOREYS

Every picture tells a story, but we'd prefer you to picture THE FOUR STOREYS. Can you do that? Can you? Go on, scrunch your eyes up real tight and see if you can imagine four handsome young men with guitars and stuff.

Just some funny patterns and a blinding headache? Not to worry, perhaps it's something you could ponder in the few seconds between the a-side and the b-side. Okay, so it's a CD but here AT SHIFTY DISCO we like to think of them as classic 7" nuggets crammed with golden pop moments.

Which is why we proudly present THE FOUR STOREYS and their debut release "Castaway", a dreamy lullaby that takes the VELVET's `Sunday Morning' for a glide through the sweet dappled slow-fi pastures of American nouveau-folk. In another, less cynical, world you might call it achingly beautiful. And because we're such an old-fashioned bunch we've doubled your listening pleasure with "Take Another Turn", a classic skip through gentle blues-pop; BOB DYLAN playing at DAVID BOWIE wishing he was NEIL YOUNG.

Formed by Oxford-based brothers Nick and Simon Kenny, along with former NUBILES drummer Dan Goddard and the other bloke on the keyboard, THE FOUR STOREYS are in love with classic songwriting, from REED and BOWIE to DYLAN and BACHARACH, but not slaves to outmoded ideals of retro cool. The idea of timeless music has been sucked dry over the past few years but we hope you will fall under the spell of this unassumingly gorgeous single. Four Storeys is a long way up (unless you're used to working on the 25th floor), but take the time to get their. The view is quite breathtaking.
