See, we told you, something you’ve heard of from New York City. French
Kicks are no ordinary rock ‘n’ roll band, no sirree, this
is an all singing oft dancing combination of alt melodies and sweetly
arranged songs, to quote themselves " The four of them work together
like draughtsmen creating musical architecture " now that might sound
a tad poncey to some, probably because it is, however there is no disputing
the fact that these guys have soul, and a real way with a the perfect
pop song. We know you approve, we can see you smiling.

WRONG SIDE is a re-recording of the lead track from their (as yet unreleased
in these parts) new LP ‘One Time Bells’, from information
garnered here at the random ranch it’ll see the light of day early
next year, but not these tracks, no. These are exclusive to you .. ‘WAS
IT A CRIME’ (no question mark grammar freaks so obviously it WAS)
ain’t even on the record, no .. this one is just for you … special
like. The bad news is that by the time you get this French Kicks
will have been and gone from these sunny shores, they flew in early October
on a hush hush mission and played a couple of little gigs (just to get
free beer and sandwiches we think) but it was all top secret and hastily
arranged so don’t come bleating to us because .. well just because
we CAN keep a secret when we want to.

In other news today (say that bit in a fey regional newsreader tone) the
Star Harbour website now has soundclips up for all the releases, we’ve
done this to save you time explaining to your friends and acquaintances
what it is it’s all about. Now all you need to do is simply direct
them there and they can hear (briefly) for themselves why it is you joined
this glamorous enterprise, and why it is that this is your bestest post
of the month, who knows, they may even join this ever expanding army?
Remember MAD DONNA? How could you forget? Well it’s not over yet my
lovely random ones, the cartoon one has been nominated for an award ..
A proper award too, The National Music Awards 2002 held on 27th October
at the Hammersmith Apollo, she’s in the ‘Favourite Novelty’
song of the year’ category, and you will be able to vote for her
via the itv.com website or through the Daily Mirror, so far we know there
are 5 nominees, 4 of whom will make the final cut for the ceremony, so
please please please keep an eye out for Maddy and vote for her, because
frankly we want to go and win – on your behalf of course – and
we promise to spill the beans on all the big stars and we’ll bring
you back a doggy bag and and and, it’ll be better than Top Of The
Pops even!
