Housewives Choice...

Once there was The Singing Nun ("Dominique" in 1963), The Singing Dogs ("The Singing Dogs Medley" in 1955) and even The Singing Sheep ("Baa Baa Black Sheep" in 1982), now we can bring you The Singing Housewife! She's called Bic Brac, she sang on The Regents' one-off Top 20 hit "7 Teen" back in 1979 when she was still at school and she does the ironing during the guitar solos. She made us promise to mention that.

Bic Brac, The Singing Housewife, naturally met the rest of her new band, The Corsettes, in a launderette. Just like Malcolm McClaren discovered Bow Wow Wow's Annabella Lu Win doing the service washes like some kind of glamorous punk rock Pauline Fowler way back when. Which isn't where the comparison ends because at first we thought The Corsettes might be the work of Annabella herself, what with Bic's fantastically ruffled sing-song kind of voice. But it wasn't. But it was even more exciting that she'd been in The Regents, cos that single was ace and if you can get yourself a copy then you really ought to, just to hear how proper throwaway one-hit-wonder pop ought to sound. Might be a bit of a chore though, what with it probably having been deleted for about two decades. Maybe you could try the Internet? Look, we're only trying to help okay? No need to sigh like that.
